Joel Plaskett strums his guitar and melodically sings, “There’s a reason that I love this town” from his album La De Da.

Listening to True Patriot Love from Down At The Khyber, Joel Plaskett is touring Canada once again. Performing in Cobourg on May 25, Rose Cousins and Ana Egge will join Plaskett along with Plaskett’s father, Bill, on stage at Park Playhouse and Performing Arts Centre.

Plaskett, who has toured North America, Australia and the United Kingdom, brims with creative, original song lyrics. Fun and catchy, his lyrics include, “Come on teacher, won’t you tell me/ Why someone just won’t expel me” from Joel Plaskett Emergency’s album Truthfully Truthfully.

In 2008, the single Fashionable People from the album Ashtray Rock earned Plaskett First Place Winner in the Pop Category of the Billboard World Song Contest and First Place Winner in the Great American Song Contest.

Plaskett and his band won six 2008 East Coast Music Awards, which includes best songwriter, recording, group recording and rock recording. For the smash Fashionable People, Plaskett won best single and video.

Tickets to see Plaskett perform live on May 25 at Park Playhouse and Performing Arts Centre are available now for $37.50. For more information, visit www.parkplayhouse.ca or call 905-377 9595.

With the support of Northumberland’s wonderful people cheering him on, Joel Plaskett is sure to “love this town.”
