Lauren and the girls return for Season 5

    The Hills, MTV
Will Lauren and Heidi ever be BFFs again?

It’s the night MTV had been leading up to for weeks, and now the time was finally here! The girls returned, minus Whitney, on the Season 5 première of The Hills, and they certainly brought the dramz in two brand new episodes.

Lauren, Audrina, Heidi and Lo were back and revealed the scenes viewers have been waiting weeks for: Lauren and Heidi crying together as they reminisced about their past friendship, and the bar fight between Spencer and Stephanie’s ex-boyfriend.

Let’s start with the infamous Heidi/Lauren crying scene that was posted all over celebrity blogs. Lauren’s friends threw her a surprise party on a boat and Stephanie tried yet again to reunite the former BFFs and asked Heidi to tag along. When Stephanie and Heidi finally arrived — late, of course — the boat took off and they were all stuck, whether they liked it or not.

While Heidi awkwardly partied it up, Spencer managed to find a friend for a guy’s night out. At the bar, Spencer flirted with the bartender, then noticed Stephanie’s ex-boyfriend, Cameron. Cameron texted Stephanie about Spencer’s flirtations, who, in turn, told Heidi. Awesome. Heidi called Spencer to ask if it was true, and the you-know-what hit the fan from there. Cameron got a Spencer Pratt-punch and their kerfuffle left Cameron bleeding.

Back on the boat, LC overheard Heidi’s conversation with Spencer and told her the reason they were no longer friends was because of Spencer. LC said she couldn’t pretend to be her friend while she was still with Spencer, which resulted in the two in tears.

The kicker? When Heidi visited the bartender who Spencer flirted with and told her fiancé his actions were inappropriate for an engaged man. Heidi left for Colorado to visit her mom, and Lauren told Stephanie to butt out of trying to repair her and Heidi’s relationship.

    It’s about time.

The Hills airs Mondays, 10 p.m. ET, MTV.

‘The Hills’ was all about the Pratts

    Not-so-happy family

Last night’s episode of The Hills focused on the weird and wonderful Pratt family.

Lauren scored Stephanie an intern interview with Kelly Cutrone at People’s Revolution. Since Whitney left for NYC, Kelly needed extra help to unburden the workload. During the interview, however, Steph was extremely nervous, and her padded resumé included her desire to design handbags — not exactly impressive to a PR company. Kelly told Lauren the interview went terribly but LC wanted Kelly to give Steph a chance because she could be a “genius”. Um, what? “Genius” and “Stephanie Pratt” aren’t typically used in the same sentence, considering this is the same girl who thought a guinea pig and a hamster were the same thing.

Steph’s brother, Spencer, partied it up again with his lone friend, Charlie, and the two hung out with Stacie the bartender and her friends. Spencer proceeded to complain about Heidi, and lo and behold, Steph and Heidi found them sitting with the girls. There was yelling, and the word “homewrecker” came up. Whatever. Methinks the problem is and will always be Spencer.

After some prodding from Steph, Heidi asks Spencer to attend couples therapy, to which Spencer obviously says no. Heidi finally replied, with a “We’re done” and walked out.

Are Speidi done for good? Doubt it. But here’s hoping.

    Pushing boundaries

Friendships put to the test on ‘The Hills’

    The Hills, MTV
    Best friends forever?

While Spencer and Heidi had a pointless therapy session, the girls pushed friendships in the latest episode of The Hills.

Audrina is single and ready to mingle… with her friend Brody? After a run-in with Justin, Brody managed to tear himself away from his girlfriend Jade’s lips to talk to Audrina. Sitting a little to closely, sparks flew for Audrina, but was Brody feeling it, too? The next day, Audrina shared a bite to eat with Lo and Lauren, and dished that she felt a connection with Brody. Lo played it cool, but Lauren’s blue eyes were as wide as saucers at the horror that her BFF might pursue her ex-flame.

Meanwhile, Stephanie continued to suck in the eyes of her People’s Revolution boss, the terrifying Kelly Cutrone. And Lauren’s attempts to help Steph didn’t fly. Can Steph and Lauren’s friendship survive hurricane People’s Revolution, or will they part ways like Lauren and Heidi? And more importantly, how exciting will it be when Kelly completely loses it on Stephanie for her mistakes?

While the girls sort of pushed boundaries with their friendships, this episode of The Hills was incomplete. No real drama happened… well,  until the preview for next week, which showed the guys and gals on vacation in Hawaii, and a possible hookup with Brody and Audrina. Should be interesting… more so than Heidi and Spencer’s unhelpful therapy session where the therapist called their drama very “high school”. Nice.

The Hills airs Monday at 10 p.m. ET, MTV.

Spencer learns about religion on ‘The Hills’

    The Hills, MTV
    Spencer and Heidi got religious

Contrasts between L.A. partiers and small-town Colorado folk were highlighted on The Hills, when the gals lived it up in Hawaii, and Speidi double-dated with good ol’ Colby and his Bible College girlfriend.

The L.A. crew headed to Hawaii, where alcohol was in abundance and watching surfers was afternoon entertainment. While crashing the “guys trip”, Audrina continued crushing on Brody, and the next morning, Lo, Lauren and Stephanie learned Audrina spent the night in Brody’s room.

But did Audrina and Brody show any shame or embarrassment from their hookup? Nah. While admitting the affair to his guy pals, Brody showed no guilt or remorse over cheating on Jade, and the guys didn’t disapprove either — Frankie even applauded Brody for the affair!). Audrina’s actions, however, weren’t celebrated, especially when  Lo pointed out that Jade may start a war. Guilty? Not Audrina. Her unfazed reply was simple: “Bring it on.”

Heidi and Spencer’s evening out was a stark contrast. Heidi’s religious ex-boyfriend, Colby, arrived in Beverly Hills with his new equally religious girlfriend, and the four partied it up — Bible College-style.

Spencer was totally confused over Colby’s virginity and choice to not drink alcohol. What, no petrone? To Spencer, that’s blasphemy. But then again, morals and Spencer don’t mix.

In a Bible study session with Heidi and Spencer (seriously), Colby and his girlfriend found passages proving their belief of saving themselves for marriage.

Spencer just seemed to find it all strange and unbelievable. But as Heidi explained to Colby during their double date, Spencer is “Hugh Hefner, Jr.” Ugh.

The other women of ‘The Hills’

Temptresses threaten relationships on ‘The Hills’

    The Hills, MTV
Can’t these women find their own men?

Well, it turns out Heidi had a lot to be angry about on The Hills.

Searching through Spencer’s phone, Heidi came across a text from bartender Stacie, telling him to meet her at H.Wood. Naturally, Heidi deleted the message, and she and her gang of platinum blonds showed up at the club instead. Ready to take on Stacie and her brunette posse, Heidi screamed at Spencer’s temptress, but Stacie didn’t back down, telling Heidi there will always be other “skanks.” Spencer, a skank magnet? Nah, his taste in women are more the, um, “classy” type. Speaking of which, Spencer made a visit to the therapist by his lonesome, telling the therapist that he wanted to rebuild Heidi’s trust.

While Heidi fought to keep her man, Audrina took on Stacie’s role as “the other woman” with Brody. After a confrontation with Jade, temptress Audrina wasn’t going to give up on Brody that easy. She partied it up at a club where Jade and her Playboy bunnies gave her the evil eye. Soon, Brody had to make a decision: Audrina or Jade. Kinda easy. Brody asked Audrina to leave, and later confirmed his choice during a lunch with Lauren, where he told her his feelings were with Jade.

While there may always be other women, or “skanks,” the boys of The Hills proved that they love their girlfriends and aren’t tempted. Well, not that tempted.

‘The Hills’ girls take control of their lives

    The Hills, MTV
    Yo go, girls!

Enough was enough for The Hills’ Audrina, Heidi and Lauren, who decided to take control of very messy situations. Way to go, girls!

Far from being employee of the month, Stephanie told Lauren she needed to “de-stress” from work and go on a “boy hunt.” Lost in her own world, Steph ignored Lauren’s instructions to bag a rack of clothing, leaving Lauren helpless at a photo shoot. Steph was on her lunch break and couldn’t get the clothes for Lauren. Ahh, work ethic runs in the Pratt family. Kelly had had it and told Lauren she needed to fire Steph by the end of the week, saying she should do it fast and clean like a guillotine. Catchy.

Sick and tired of texts and calls from Justin Bobby, Audrina agreed to meet the hobo-chic man face-to-face. Walking into the restaurant, Audrina barely touched the seat before she told J.B. they were done and to stop contacting her. As Audrina stormed out, J.B. followed, complete with flood pants and striped socks — not a good look. But Audrina wasn’t having it, saying she was over him. Right. How long will it last this time? As a wary Steph pointed out, it’s been said before.

And as if Heidi needed to spend more time stewing over the short-lived Spencer and Stacie fling, she decided to visit the bartender at work. Clad in a super-short dress and sky-high heels, the platinum blond entered the scummy bar to tell Stacie to leave her and Spencer alone for good. After insults were hurled back and forth, Heidi returned to couch potato Spencer who revealed what he had been doing all day… Twittering. Sigh. I guess he wasn’t on Facebook becase of his lack of friends. Heidi told him she talked to Stacie because he obviously didn’t take care of it, and Spencer delivered the best line of the evening: “What did you want me to do — kill the girl?” right after he called Heidi Tony Soprano. Heh.

    The proposal

Spencer met Heidi’s dad on ‘The Hills’

    The Hills, MTV
    Spencer proposed… again

On The Hills, Heidi’s “real” dad came to visit, complete with cowboy hat, moustache and shotgun along with him. Spencer’s faux pas of getting hitched in Mexico without Heidi’s father’s permission didn’t go unnoticed by Mr. Montag.

Hmmm, perhaps Spencer finally met his match.

Spencer put on his best, pearly-white smile and chatted up Mr. Montag, where Heidi’s dad suggested going shooting (with, not at) Spencer. The manipulator chimed it “beats Darlene advice any day of the week.” Darlene is Heidi’s mother, of course, and Mr. Montag’s ex-wife. Clever, Spencer, very clever.

Poor Lauren was forced to fire Stephanie, and while that was happening, Spencer was asking for Mr. Montag’s blessing to marry Heidi… again.

Despite being terrified of heights, Spencer dragged Heidi onto a giant ferris wheel. While she was forced to overcome her fear, Spencer stopped the ride and popped the question. Heidi, of course, said yes (though I like to think she just wanted to get off the ride), and continued with a “Till death do us part. Not divorce do us part.”

Oops, too late to back out now Spencer.

Who’s going to attend Heidi and Spencer’s wedding?

    The Hills, MTV
The truth finally came out on ‘The Hills’

As the big day fast approaches on The Hills, Heidi has all the pieces in place for her perfect, “princess” wedding: Perfect hair? Check. Perfect gown? Check. Perfect fiancé? Er, pass. Perfect guests? Oops! Lost in their own world, the couple seemed to have forgotten that part.

Scrounging up every former friend they could find, Heidi sent out the wedding invitations — Spencer invited Stephanie and his only friend, Charlie, while Heidi welcomed Audrina and Lo. But the holy grail of wedding guests awaits her invitation, Lauren Conrad.

That’s right, no Lauren. Despite wanting LC to attend, Heidi sent Stephanie to ask her former B.F.F. After Lauren said no, Heidi paid a visit to People’s Revolution to chat with Lauren, donning a see-through zebra-print top and sky-high heels. Classy.

Lauren reminded Heidi about the girl Heidi once was, with the “can-do” attitude that Lauren admired, but is disappearing because of Spencer. Lauren wasn’t planning on attending the wedding because she believes it’s a mistake.

OK, are you sitting down for the next part? Yes? Good. After Heidi left People’s Revolution, Spencer called Lauren to make the first apology he’s probably ever made in 24 years. The biggest revelation? Spencer not only admitted, but apologized for starting the Lauren Conrad-Jason Wahler sex tape rumour.

    Jaw. Dropper.

The Hills’ one hour season’s finale airs Sunday, May 31 at 8 p.m. on MTV.

‘The Hills’ Speidi tie the knot!

The big day finally arrived for Heidi and Spencer

    Happily ever after?

As Lauren packed her bags and moved out of the mansion, Holly won the worst bridesmaid of the year award on The Hills finale.

Sitting with Steph, Heidi listed off the pieces needed for her “swan princess-esque,” fairy-tale, dream wedding. This included diamonds dripping from her with a big dress and the cake having strawberries and chocolate truffles. Extravagant much? Listening diligently to Heidi’s demands, Steph asked who Heidi’s maid of honour will be, and Heidi said she picked Holly because “she’s been my sister my whole life.” Insert ominous foreshadowing music here.

Spencer has been in suck-it-up mode and apologized to Heidi’s mom and got her blessing, while Heidi celebrated at her bridal shower. Holly was late, something Steph was quick to notice. When Holly finally showed up, she didn’t do the mandatory duties the maid of honour usually undertakes, so strike one for Holly.

Next up was the rehearsal dinner. Steph made a touching speech, tearing up as she told Spencer she loved him and that Spencer loves Heidi more than anyone else in the world. In contrast (remember that music?), a seemingly drunk Holly said that Spencer has treated her like a sister since the day they met, good or bad. And in marriage you need someone to call out your crap, which Spencer does. To top it off, she said that Heidi used to go in the woods and try to conjure up the perfect man who she would marry. Yikes, that was Holly’s second strike.

As if Holly could do any worse, she threw a potato to get someone’s attention, but of course, missed her target and the spud landed on Heidi’s expensive purse. “I don’t throw food, and I don’t even have good manners,” said Spencer, in one of the most honest and hilarious quotes ever. Holly cried and asked to go home. Yup, strike three.

But she wasn’t out. After calming down, Holly told her sister she could pass her duties to Steph, but Heidi said she would never “un-maid of honour her.”

After all the strikes, Holly managed not to screw up the wedding and it went off without a hitch; even LC showed up to give Heidi a pre-ceremony powder room congrats.

Then the big moment arrived. No, not the “I dos,” but in the form of new Hills torch-bearer, Kristin Cavallari. The bitch is back, y’all.
